Effects on substrate metabolism, protein – and gene expression in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue in relation to gender and fitness level.

Aim:

To reveal molecular changes in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue induced by the NND vs. the ADD in subjects entering the 6 months, randomised, controlled dietary intervention study, in order to explain the possible effects of the two dietary regimes on health parameters such as insulin sensitivity and plasma lipoprotein profile.

Both men and women will be studied, as they may respond differently to the dietary interventions.

 

Milestones:

• Recruitment of subjects from WP 3.
• Execution of the clinical test days.
• Measurement of physical activity.
• Analyses of adipose tissue and muscle biopsies.
