Social and cultural factors
Aim:
To provide a basis for the design of the school meals intervention by providing insight into the needs, expectations, wishes and visions of stakeholders directly affected by the provision of a school meals service, and by providing insight into the facilities and character of the organizational settings in which this intervention will take place. Before, during and after the intervention the delivery, use and reception of the intervention programme, barriers, problems, successes, failures, etc. will be assessed. At the end of the intervention outcome evaluation of the school meals intervention with reference to changes in eating practices in the course of the school day, and satisfaction with these changes among school children and school teachers participating in the OPUS school meals intervention, will be performed.
Milestones:
- Focus group interviews with children, parents and teachers prior to and throughout the dietary intervention.
- Individual interviews with school staff, municipal authorities and food producers prior to and throughout the dietary intervention.
- Participant observation studies at selected schools prior to and throughout the intervention.
- Survey (questionnaire) among teachers and school children before and after the intervention.
- Internal feed-back to the other OPUS partners.
- Publishing the results in scientific journals.
