WP 2D: Development and validation of a dietary assessment method for 8-10 year olds

Aim:

To develop a new simple dietary monitoring method for 8-10 year old children in the school intervention, and to test validity and reproducibility of the method in a small group of children.

Milestones:

  • Completion of a review of dietary intake methodologies for the age group 8-10 yrs, with emphasis on the need for a simple, quick and engaging method with high reproducibility and validity.
  • A test of validity and reproducibility of the proposed dietary intake method in a group of children 8-10 yrs of age. The "golden standard" for the validation will be the 7-days food diary used by the National Food Institute for their national surveys.
