Societal acceptability

Aim:

to provide a basis for the development of NND meals in WP 1 that are compatible with cultural norms of adults and children in Denmark, and which can vary according to social background, cultural factors (such as ethnicity) and the specific social context of consumption events.

Milestones:

  • Compose a review about qualitative and quantitative studies on dietary habits and public health interventions. Emphasis will be upon research undertaken during or after the year 2000 and having reference to Denmark. Particular attention will be given to any significant differences regarding age, gender, household composition, socio-economic background (income and/or educational differences) and ethnic background. The review should be published in a scientific journal.
  • Produce an internal report on the results from the review with recommendations to the other partners in OPUS regarding products, meal composition, presentation and/or format.
  • Sociological testing of NND meals among schoolchildren. A minimum of 10 interviews or 2 group interviews will be conducted in each setting two times during the progress of WP 1.
  • Sociological testing of NND meals among adults. Six focus groups of strategically sampled adults will be tested two times during the progress of WP 1 concerning their experience with preparation and consumption of meals according to the NND concept.
  • Produce an internal report on the results from the sociological testing to be used in WP 1.
